I have not been really good at blogging this year so far... the change in my role, brought challenges with it. I have grown so much already and I am really looking forward to seeing what comes out of this year. And now that I am getting into the swing of things, I plan to blog more...
What I really just wanted to mention quickly is, in the last few months I have been battling with a very deep disappointment... this disappointment has everything to do with my beloved homeland South Africa. The increase of rape, violent crimes, and the corruption exposed in our government AND then the press and different groups in the land are again bringing all the problems down to skin colour. Yes, skin colour is again the topic of discussion in many places. The divide between rich and poor is the new apartheid... race and wealth threaten havoc on the dream. I was starting to feel like; perhaps we will never get it right... perhaps our idealistic rainbow nation is just that... JUST a dream.
BUT, I did not stay there long...
Lately, I have the incredible opportunity of being in few different events. My most favourite are the services at my church and what I see is "brethren dwelling together in unity" yes, "sisters “and "brothers". People working together for the greater good, together to see the kingdom of God on earth... beautiful people of colour... all of them :)
The gospel gives us a common denominator, a principle of value no matter what colour, class, education... that allows us to love all freely this is a GIFT.
“But when the world can turn around and see a group of God’s people exhibiting substantial healing in the area of human relationships in their present life, then the world will take notice. Each group of Christians is, as it were, a pilot plant, showing that something can be done in the present situation, if only we begin in the right way.” ~ Francis Schaeffer, The God who is There
